Don’t give up

August 15, 2015

Pahang coach Zainal Abidin Hassan reiterated the need to avoid giving up on the Super League title despite only three matches to go.

The Elephants, who are just one point behind leaders Johor Darul Takzim, visit Perak in Ipoh on Saturday. JDT visit Kelantan at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium.

“JDT are n good form so I wouldn’t dare predict they would drop points. We shouldn’t be thinking of that anyway. I want my team to win all three remaining matches,” said Zainal.

“There is no point stressing ourselves with how JDT are doing. We were ahead but allowed JDT to overtake us. Now, we have to do our best and see where we end up.

“It has been a difficult month with many matches but I am proud we kept going. But defensively, the players must buck up. We cannot let goals slip in easily,” he said.

Pahang were top of standings until the 4-2 defeat to LionsXII last week. After Perak, Pahang play Felda United and Terengganu.

The AFC Cup quarterfinal two-legged tie against FC Istiqlol of Tajikistan takes places after the Super League ends. Matches take place on August 26 and September 16.
