Be patient and make the most of chances that come. That is the message Zainal Abidin Hassan has for his boys ahead of the two-legged Malaysia Cup semifinal against Selangor this week.
With Pahang hosting the first leg on Wednesday, Zainal understands they have to get as good an advantage possible ahead of the return leg at the Shah Alam Stadium on Sunday.
“Selangor are tough to crack. They are hard working and close you down as fast as possible. While we will continue our attacking game, I told the players to be patient and not get frustrated if it is difficult to score,” said Zainal.
“Selangor have players who can hurt you on the break, so we cannot leave so much space at the back.
“We have to be more solid than we have been in the competition and take our chances that come at the other end. We must win the first leg,” he said.
Pahang are without defender Abdul Aziz Ismail, who is suspended after picking two yellows in the last eight, but the possible return of skipper Razman Roslan would ensure Zainal of a regular back-four.
Pahang won the previous two editions and hope to be only the third side to win the Malaysia Cup after Singapore, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
