Azidan Sarudin’s injury time winner ensured Pahang a 1-0 win to stay at the top of the Super League
After securing a 5-3 win over the Cops in Shah Alam last Saturday, expectations were on Pahang collecting three points again at the Darul Makmur Stadium and they did so in the nick of time.
In the first half, Pahang could not find a way past Police – the same team the Elephants put three past at the break in the reverse fixture on Saturday.
It looked like Pahang were set for another win after just two minutes but Dickson Nwakaeme header was saved.
Hafiz Kamal saw a freekick go just wide in the 16th minute while another attempt by the midfielder was saved in the 24th minute.
Dramane Traore could have nicked a lead for the visitors in the 34th minute but Khairul Azhan Khalid stopped his shot.
Pahang kept their search for a win going in the second half but were disappointed to see chances squandered.
Matias Conti, who bagged a hattrick last time out, added him name to the list of misses after he couldn’t convert Nwakaeme’s pass in the 65th minute.
Zainal Abidin Hassan took off D. Saarvindran and R. Gopinathan for Azamuddin Akil and Fauzi Roslan but the score looked set to stay until the 90th minute when Azidan nicked a winner.
