Let’s make a statement of intent

Seventh place Pahang may have a game in hand with teams above them in the standings but coach Zainal Abidin Hassan does not want to think about it.

“We are six points from the top and that is how I see it. The game in hand could come handy but we can’t count our eggs before it hatches, ” he said.

Pahang travel to Klang Valley for a clash against joint leaders Felda United at the Selayang Stadium on Saturday.

The KL based club side is level on 17 points with Selangor at the top of the standings but the Red Giants has a better goal difference.

Zainal wants his charges to take all points and make a statement of intent.

“A win against those above us will boost the team. More importantly are the three points,” Zainal said.

“We can’t afford to lose concentration like we did in Penang a few days back. Then we were fortunate we had won the first leg and it took us through to the FA Cup semifinals. “

Pahang has a full squad to choose from in Selayang but may rotate players due to AFC Cup matches next midweek.
