It is back to the drawing board for coach Zainal Abidin Hassan after a 2-0 loss to Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) in the season opener at the Larkin Stadium.
The match saw JDT snatch the Sultan Ahmad Shah Cup and three points in the Super League, leaving the Elephants needing to pick themselves up.
“We have more work to do… to polish up a few things. Luckily, we have another two weeks before our next match,” said Zainal.
“During this period, I will rectify our mistakes to ensure we put up better performances in our coming matches.”
Pahang entertain Super League runners-up Selangor at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan on Feb 14.
In Larkin, the visitors could not break the host down as the star studded side found the back of the net twice from set-pieces after not being able to break the defence marshaled by Damion Stewart and Zesh Rehman from open play.
“We missed Azamuddin Akil’s (injured) penetration from the flanks. Fauzi Roslan and R. Gopinathan tried very hard to break JDT’s defence but it did not work out,” Zainal added.
