PKNS topped Group D after Pahang were held 0-0 by Penang in Kuantan.
The Selangor-based club have 11 points while Pahang are one point behind. The result meant Pahang will play Group A winners LionsXII in the quarterfinals.
Pahang and Penang entered the dressing room at halftime tied at 0-0.
A part of the stadium’s lighting went off in the third minute, bringing play to a halt but it was continued a couple of minutes later despite the lights not working. The lights only came back in the 29th minute.
Sani Anuar Kamsani was called into action in Matias Conti’s freekick in the sixth minute but wasn’t really tested then on despite Pahang pushing for the lead.
Winger R. Gopinathan saw a few attempts stray away from goal in Pahang’s other close chances.
Penang struck the post three times in the second half but Khairul Azhan Khalid kept his clean sheet.
Gopinanthan thought his effort in the 52nd minute had put the hosts ahead but he was offide. Dickson Nwakaeme has a chance late in the match but blasted his shot above with only the keeper to beat.
