Pahang in search of breather at the top

June 26, 2015

Pahang could go five points clear at the top of the Super League standings today.

Head coach Zainal Abidin Hassan knows they face a tough time against defending champions Johor Darul Takzim (JDT), but having seen Pahang deny JDT for Cup trophies in the past, he also know what it takes to get full points.

“We must make use of the home advantage. We lost in Johor but that was early in the season. We have improved so much since,” said Zainal.

“What I ask from the players is the same – stick together on the field and stay focussed. Their commitment in previous matches were tip top and I expect that to continue.

“I don’t want the players to think of the title race. They need to take every game as it comes and collect as many points as possible,” he added.

Pahang top the Super League standings with 26 points, two ahead of JDT.

Both teams head into that with a 100 percent record since the league resume last week. Pahang beat Police 5-3 and 1-0 while JDT overcame Terengganu 1-0 and 2-0.
