Pahang ran amok at the Darul Makmur Stadium as they defeated Kedah 5-0 to reach the Malaysia Cup final.
Zainal Abidin Hassan’s side had lost the first leg 3-1 but backed by the home crowd, the Elephants trampled over the Red Eagles to win 6-3 on aggregate.
Pahang led the first half 3-0 as they turned the tie after losing 3-1 in the first leg Kedah.
The Elephants took only 25 minutes to put themselves level on aggregate and ahead on goal difference.
Matias Conti connected with a corner just three minutes into play as R. Gopinathan scored their second after sneaking in to tap in Azamuddin Akil’s cross in the 25th minute.
Azamuddin provided again four minutes later as Conti converted to make it 3-0 for Pahang.
The Argentinean completed his hattrick after Dickson Nwakaeme danced with the ball in the box and set-up Conti for a stunning finish past the goalkeeper.
Things went down a few notches in the second half as Kedah kept searching for a way back in.
Khyrill Muhymeen and Baddrol Bakhtiar had a glorious chance to pull on back in the 70th minute with Khairul Azhan well beaten but the duo had a miscommunication and the chance was wasted.
Three minutes later, Gopinathan put to bed any chance of a Kedah comeback through a rocketing shot into the net close from goal.
