Pahang prevailed in a seven goal thriller to start their Malaysia Cup campaign on a winning note. Pahang defeated Police 4-3.
Azamuddin Akil’s double gave Pahang a 2-1 lead into halftime at the Darul Makmur Stadium.
The right winger took it upon himself after just two minutes with a solo effort that sailed to the top right corner of the goal.
Super League top scorer Dramane Traore equalised for Police in the 14th minute but Azamuddin, fondly known as Alex to many, put the Elephants ahead again in the 35th minute.
Alex merely had to tap in the ball after being set-up by Zesh Rehman.
Alex sealed his hattrick in the 64th minute but Ashfaq Ali (70th minute) and Braganca (74th minute) drew Police back level to ensure a thrilling finale.
Dickson Nwakaeme scored to put Pahang ahead agai in the 79th minute, just minutes after he replaced winger R. Gopinathan. The Nigerian forward was returning for injury.
