Defending champions Pahang suffered another Malaysia Cup defeat, this time 4-1 to PKNS at the Darul Makmur Stadium.

The Elephants had a half to forget after the Premier League side raced to a two goal lead in Kuantan before Zesh Rehman reduced the deficit.

Gabriel Guerra’s attempt from outside the box beat Khairul Azhan Khalid in the 16th minute. Ten minutes later, Pedro Henriquez headed Mohd Faiz’s cross to double the lead.

Pahang were lucky not to concede after Khairul Azhan Khalid came to the rescue when Pedro Cortes was through on goal in the seventh minute.

Zesh headed home Hafiz Kamal’s cross to pull one back in the 41st minute.

Pahang looked more offensive in the second half to avoid a second defeat in the Malaysia Cup.

However, only frustration met them as Damion Stewart, R. Gopinathan and Zesh saw their attempts fail.

Nizam Abu Bakar sealed PKNS’ win in the 81st minute while Ronaldinho made it 4-1 in stoppage to open up Group D.
