Defending champions Pahang were drawn in Group D with Premier League runners up Penang, Police and club side PKNS in the Malaysia Cup.
This season signing D. Saarvindran, who has overcome injury concerns with some impressive showing, is hoping to play a more active role in the tournament.
“I have been working on my fitness because I want to make a good impression,” said the former Harimau Muda lad.
“I’ve not featured in the Malaysia Cup in previous years because I was with the Harimau Muda team. I look forward to having a good feel of this tournament.
“Every team will be out to beat us because Pahang won it last two years. They are a few teams capable on winning it but the Malaysia Cup often throws a surprise or two.”
Pahang defeated Johor Darul Takzim in last year’s final and Kelantan in 2013.
